Diners are greeted and served by mechanical beings that are programmed with more than 10 facial expressions and have the ability to recite basic phrases. The Robots are operated by staff from a computer room and can run for five hours before needing to be recharged. The restaurant was set up for an initial investment cost of $800,000 (£500,000) and the robots cost anywhere from $30,000 to $50,000 (£20,000 to £30,000) each.
