Any citizen that surrenders their weapons for some token gift card or nominal amount of money is a fucking idiot. When some ARMED black dudes break into their homes, rape their wives and children and steal all their valuables, they'll realize that they can't depend on the police to help them and they made themselves helpless to defend themselves.

At the Seattle buyback private citizens were out bidding the police who were offering $100 for a regular gun and $200 for what they call an assault rifle.
