That is utter bullshit for Australia! I have NEVER tipped, nor are you required to.
Sure, tipping a taxi driver is fine, but as for restaurants and hotels, never. But it is NOT expected.

How about this: don't tip at all, anywhere. Employers should pay a fair wage to workers and not depend on their employees to beg customers for their wages.
