I have mixed feelings about this...

First, she looks about 30, not 15. She deserves praise for being tough enough to continue on and make a good life for herself despite her handicap but having her parents raise $9,000 because their little girl is vain strikes me as wrong.
Her classmates obviously know of her disability, so showing up with two legs will be more shocking then if she used her regular peg or whatever she uses everyday.
I think there are better things to invest 9k in.

Plus, once everyone is drunk and she's bent over a chair and guys are lining up to take turns on her, no one, and I mean NO ONE, is going to give a shit about her fancy new leg.

A better thing to invest 9k would be a prosthetic dick for Mr. Ree. But...well...no girl (and by "no girl" I mean not even the fat ones) would give a crap about it since sex (at least with a girl) is a privilege he can't afford.
(Mr. Ree, you're the one who deserve praise and my utmost admiration; It takes real courage to be in your skin and not commit suicide)

Am I the only one who thought the story was about the fat girl slimming down?

Hi there mr. Ree! This is Isabelle, the girl from the article. For you're information I am not vain as I clearly wouldn't have opted to have my leg amputated at the age of 14 if I was! You also clearly do not understand prosthetic legs as otherwise you would know that I don't got about my life without a leg on. I have a normal leg which I wear that allows me to walk and do sports. I have also had a medical condition for the whole of my life where I have had over 20 operations, an ilisarov frame and I have only been able to wear trainers due to my shoes having to be built up. So being able to wear heels is a privilege to me which you could not understand. Also considering I didn't make my parents fundraise for me, we all worked together by raising money with my friends and family who wanted to help, that does not make me a spoilt brat. The nhs do not provide heeled legs with high definition skins (legs that look real). Lastly, I was 15 at the time and I am offended that you have basically implied that I am a slag. You are rude and should stop degrading women. If you have such an opinion, then maybe I should swap places with you. You selfish, ignorant, human being. Thank you to those who stick up for me.
