#7 looks like one of my before and afters, though with less wrinkles. She's a shar pei black lab mix. Dumb as bricks, but obsessively loyal to no end.

Some of my dogs are rescues such as these. If any of you are thinking of getting a rescue dog after seeing these pics, good for you but be warned - they take a lot of loving work compared to a non-abused dog. It may take a LOT longer for them to trust anyone again and you may find that they have certain uncurable fears like loud noises, yelling, thunder, etc. If you can find out their abuse situation before you adopt, it will help immensely so you know what NOT to do to gain their trust.
But, in the end, it's very much worth it.

Many thanks to you who have posted such wonderful comments. As an animal rights advocate, I have seen sights such as this and far, far worse. Humans put no limits on the depravity and senseless cruelty they perpetrate against other species. Anyone who turns a blind eye to the suffering is equally as guilty.
Thank goodness there are some people in this world with compassion enough to save a few from torment. Some of those people are visitors to this website.

Please help support the wonderful organizations that rescue abused animals and fight to stop abuse. Report any abuse you see to the authorities - don't just ignore it or be afraid to be involved. It is your duty as an empathetic being to help those that can't speak for themselves :-)
