he can obviously communicate with her in some way and most likely return her love, affection and gratitude. so that's something special.

also, given the miracle of neural plasticity, brain damage is not necessarily permanent. he will likely slowly recover functionality, although where that will leave him is unclear. life keeps challenging us to be adaptable.
