i understand it's a beneficial thing, but i'm not sure it needs to be heavily pursued. a balanced life will generally produce plenty of healing laughter. a lot of that will arise from peace of mind... which will spontaneously find plenty of things amusing and laugh-worthy.
a culture full of empty laughter is not necessarily a good thing, i suspect.
The combination of the many benefits to laughter has shown to increase longevity of life. In fact, in a 20 year study, researchers found that those who held a more positive outlook on life increased their lifespan to 7.8 more years.
