i understand it's a beneficial thing, but i'm not sure it needs to be heavily pursued. a balanced life will generally produce plenty of healing laughter. a lot of that will arise from peace of mind... which will spontaneously find plenty of things amusing and laugh-worthy.
a culture full of empty laughter is not necessarily a good thing, i suspect.
Scientific research has suggested that by lowering our blood pressure, boosting our immune functions, decreasing stress hormones, etc,; laughter actually helps us recuperate faster from various ailments.
