Being poor also includes the constant fear of not being able to get enough food for yourself and the family. If something is broken, it must be repaired redneck style. Buying something new is usually not an option. It also includes a lot of shame, plus frustration against the society. Rich people who have been born rich will never get this, unless they one day end up as poor.
This ramshackle town on the Emoya Estate in South Africa is made up of corrugated huts known as “shanty’s”. The huts are located on a five star luxury game reserve that sleeps up to 52 guests and each shanty has running water, Wi-Fi and electricity. It costs $80 a night to stay here and rich people seem quite willing to pay money to live like the poor.
