Maharajas’ Express, the newest of the luxury trains has been laurelled with the title of ‘World’s Leading Luxury Train’ in a recent award ceremony by the organizers of World Travel Awards 2012. 
 

Launched in 2010 by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the Maharajas’ Express has introduced 5 new itineraries this year only. The itineraries include some of the most sought after tourist places from central, northern and north-western India including Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Mumbai, Balasinor, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Fatehpur Sikri, Gwalior, Orcha, Khajuraho, Varanasi, Lucknow, Ajanta and Mumbai.
 

On board the train, history meets its modern counterpart. While the interior décor revive the medieval Indian era before us, the avant-garde amenities speak of its modern outlook. Owing to its pneumatic suspension system, which minimizes the jerks, the overnight journey becomes as relaxing as sleeping at your own home. There are four types of occupancies available on board including Deluxe Cabin, Suite, Junior Suite and Presidential Suite. The cabins are designed in a manner to accommodate every requirement without disturbing its spaciousness. And if you wish, you can also taste some signature Rajasthani cuisines and desert varieties. There is also a bar car and a lounge car where guests can spend some leisurely hours out of the privacy of their rooms.
