You didn't mention a ... tank ! It's legal to own a tank having collector's value. The best thing is that US private owners have together more tanks than US army [sic!] :}

Why do you say in the souther US? The Newton shooting carnage is in New England. Then there is Colorado. I am willing to say that this happiness is across the entire US. I firmly think it is a right to own a gun. That said I also think stronger background checks are needed and I question the NEED for any fully automatic weapon in the hands of the general public.

The sourthern US is nothing compared to the bible belt.
