It probably fell into some snow. Then it rained for a while, soaking the snow. Then it got cold and it all froze to ice. Because of this, there may have been very little moist inside the phone.

"Believe it or not, I still can't, but IT ACTUALLY WORKS. It is in full working order, the only problems is some screen issues as you can kinda see. He did cancel the contract so it can't make calls right now. Not sure what his plan yet."
