#43, 44: I saw a TV or YouTube documentary on the crystal caves. At 112 degrees F and 100% humidity, the scientists needed environment suits to survive.

Sadly, the mining company that owns the caves could no longer afford to keep the massive pumps going to clear the chamber. I believe the pumps were shut down a few years ago and the cavern is refilled with water. The crystals are growing once again, but no one will ever see it.

Plitvice Lakes, Croatia

Plitvice National Park is the largest of it’s kind in Croatia and the oldest in Southeast Europe. Over thousands of years, water flowing over limestone and chalk created natural dams and eventually, beautiful lakes, caves and waterfalls.
