No country is going to pay like 5000 dollar each hexagon. We're already getting short on materials for electronical devices. LED lights as markings? Might turn the sun off first in order to see them. Wet glass isnt the most comfortable thing to ride/walk on, it will get slippery really fast. Sun reflection? Up the price of sunglasses. It's a lovely idea, but it is never going to happen the way it is.
beautiful idea, and somehow i doubt that they failed to consider the quality of the glass surface for bike riding and various weather conditions. it's special glass, amemoriam. and you know, they worked on this project for years with oversight, testing and funding.
but yea, obviously the cost is going to be tough. maybe the govt can offer incentives to communities or some creative funding can be found. maybe just install a smaller section at a time, let it pay for itself over the course of a year, then next year you install that much more. maybe warren buffet or bill gates want to help out.
