#1 george clooney really DID sing and record the hit tune, but the coens narrowly decided to use a professional singer instead. side note-- his aunt rosemary was a successful and famous singer with several big hits.

#16 spinal tap has a fictional back story and actors portraying the musicians, but really IS a band... when they want to be. they released three albums and do occasionally tour.

NO he didn't. There are several interviews out there where he admitted that he wasn't a good singer of this type of music.

George Clooney (Everett) was going to sing the song "Man of Constant Sorrow" for the film but it turned out that he was rather awful, so he ended up lip-synching the songs instead. He said "I'm not my aunt [referring to the late singer/actress Rosemary Clooney
