So people making up names for new things took names of old things and gave them another meaning. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I think pretty much every English speaker in the world knows that "window" means that glass-filled hole in the wall as well as the area on a computer screen, and knows that that's not an astonishing coincidence, but that the computer folks copied the word used for the piece of glass. I don't think there's one entry on this list that particularly surprises anyone. Not to be a downer.
