#18 This is wrong. In Brazil, games can be taxed up to 164% because some states consider them as toys and not as software. If taxed as software that taxation falls to 80%.
However, the high price of consoles goes beyond taxes. Companies simply introduce products with very high prices.
Last year, the launch of the Playstation, the console cost US$400 in the USA. With the currency conversion and more 164% tax, the product should cost R$2.396 (US$ 1.060). But the official Sony price was R$ 3.999 (US$ 1.796).
