13 is wrong. It's not true even for the picture shown there. It is possible for a wall not to be connected to the exit. It works only for a maze build with a continuous wall.

13 is absolutely true for a maze. What you are describing is a labyrinth.

(At least that's the classical description - the terms get used interchangeably these days, and some works describe a labyrinth as having no turns, i.e. it is a single path).

Maybe it would have been better to use an image of one then seeing as the picture has several bits where the technique described would not work.
