Thilafushi or “Trash Island” is an artificial island that was built as a municipal landfill. 27 year old filmmaker Alison Teal uses photography to draw attention to this harsh and less beautiful side of island living.

22 year old students, Zara Yang and Jakub Bures built this 10 foot boat using 5000 plastic bottles that are tied to a wooden frame. The project aims to draw attention to the problem of plastic pollution in Europe and it is pretty remarkable.
