This figurine was recently taken to the Meander Medical Center for a CT scan so that researchers could get a clear picture of what was inside the model. They found that the Buddha actually contained a mummy and it was not a simple statue at all.

Well, the surprise was not the mummy, they already knew that.
The surprise was that prior to the mummification the intestines had been removed (which is normal) but in their place was paper with Chinese writing on.
