in an age of stunt drivers, body doubles, CG and filming tricks, i see 0% reason why this should be necessary.

i disagree. it's not like they need to construct the whole scene in CG.
worst case scenerio they paste his face in over a stunt driver who looks nothing like him. it's not a new trick, nor difficult, nor expensive far as i know with today's technology.
