You aren't "supposed" to do any of this nonsense. You might get lucky on occasion if you do or you might not. #1 only works depending on the bubble type and speed of the boil. #3 will get you cavities. And the list goes on... like with #9 always makes me laugh.... I want to say, no you moron it is for hanging the pot on a hook. Because it is!
