Tats are a form of self expression. There is no sidestepping this. Once you get a tattoo, it is you and that is reality.
If someone doesn't like them, they are merely expressing themselves. However, if someone pokes at you to be mean, you poke back.

that was true a decade ago...now tatoo is just a trend.And as you know,a trend is the exact oposite of self expression.

I have a scar on my left arm that started as a tat... that ended as a scab and then/now what it is today.
Long and involved story that goes back to when I was a kid in the Army but... it is and was what it was and is.
That's the toughest truth to yank down from the blue when you're young; tats are forever, one way or another.

Metaphorically, If every person wearing a red shirt you meet slaps you in the face you become wary of people in red shirts.
Its not your tattoos that bother people it the generalization of the top 10% of a group. Tattoos do not make people assholes but the majority of assholes do get tattoos. Its, in my opinion, part of the look at me, hey look at me, culture.
Tattoos can be awesome but sadly the majority are of the "Hey I got 35 bucks what can you do on me?" style.
The act of going into a shop and choosing from flash that was ordered from the internet and stapled to the wall rather then bringing your art or choosing your artist for their style screams the point.
Its not all tattoos its the culture that comes with the majority of tattoos.
I spend the majority of my life on a motorcycle, I know the pain of being asked to leave, but I don't ride it to my clients homes or to my grandmothers thanksgiving table. The world is about other people too.
