The Cross Foundation completed a 198 foot Cross at the intersection of Interstates 57 & 70 in Effingham, Illinois. The site is intended to serve as a beacon of hope to the 50,000 travelers estimated to pass the site each day. The Cross Foundation is dedicated to building both faith and family on an ecumenical basis.

For that last photo - the US government will spend $3.9 trillion in 2015. That means the government spends $1.1 million in less than 9 seconds, and does so all year, constantly.
Two-thirds of that $3.9 trillion is for transfers, to help the old, the needy, the ill and all the rest.
Only after all that, did private individuals chose to spend $1.1 million of their own money, above and beyond what the federal government takes from each of us.
