i think the only ones worth worrying about are the ones we are creating ourselves. you can't do anything about chance, but you do have some control over your actions.
It does no good to debate the issue on any level. Politics - from all quarters - mixes into this like religion was into society back during the Grand Inquisition; you are either faithful or a heretic.
At that point, you can take it all half-dose with a smile or... well, maybe make an appointment with a cardiologist who doubles as a psycho-analyst.
Hopefully, someday, science alone will be given the full reign.
on the contrary, of course it's useful to debate at the scientific level. without such a mechanism, theories would not be continually tested, improved, debunked, adjusted and so forth.
Science is an excellent resource, especially for a planet that has been polluted and trashed for over a century in nearly every nook and cranny.
Unfortunately, and once more, on this particular issue, it is being corrupted from the very core by politics, leaving every word, every study, every debate, every test, every theory and now so too, every hope, trashed from the outset and subject to banal attack.
Until politics are fully removed and this subject sterilized, it will remain a tool for conflict rather than cure and closure.

still, a lot of these have nothing to do with climate change... it's a problem of how to deal with terrifying unknowns.
the fact that the public debate has very little to do with actual scientific findings is pretty much the opposite of amusing to me.
