Amanda Scarpinati was admitted to the Albany Medical Center in New York in 1977 due to being badly burned by a steam vaporizer at home as a baby. 38 years later, she used these pictures to help find the nurse who cared for her and the two women were finally reunited.

“Growing up as a child, disfigured by the burns, I was bullied and picked on, tormented. I’d look at those pictures and talk to her, even though I didn’t know who she was. I took comfort looking at this woman who seemed so sincere, caring for me,” says Amanda.

The nurse’s name is Sue Berger. The women were reunited at the Albany Medical Center earlier this week.
