I'm an atheist and a fond fan of all things science. Let me tell you something about the Swedish elite (political and cultural elite plus journalists and various political bloggers). They seem to love the idea of replacing the current Swedish culture with what they call multi culture. They are all in when it comes to take in migrants from all over the world in large quantities. Those who openly say that they dislike this are publicly bashed and harassed, and then are likely to loose their jobs (so much for the freedom of speech). I see the Bishops proposal as an attempt contribute to this reduction of the Swedish cultural heritage in favor of Islam. The Swedish people have spoken, a immigration hostile political party have grown a lot in the past few years and are now among Sweden's biggest political parties. They are however denied real political influence by the other parties. I'm in the favor of having religious neutral ceremony rooms / buildings, where religious people and atheists alike can have weddings and funerals, without the presence of religious symbols they may not like.
