An iPhone is roughly $700-$900 give or take. You could probably get a descent entry level DSLR for that. Mid range DSLRs will run you $1000-$3500 or so for a body + lens kit. High end professional DSLRs run you between $4000-$8000 for the body + at least $1000 for a good lens. Medium format digital cameras, like a Hasselblad, can run you upwards of $50000. Yeah, I don't think an iPhone is a "super expensive" camera.
