Derek Weida does not take it easy when someone is complaining about their problems. This girl, who was offended by “trivialization” of her OCD by Target shop, was no exception.
He might sound a little rude, but it’s kind of explainable by what he knows about problems in life.
By checking his website or Instagram you will understand what Derek himself had to live through. He was shot in the side of his knee in 2007 as a Paratrooper in US Army. He went through 18 months of rehab and therapy and attempted to rejoin his unit. He was denied and medically retired forever, so he had to fight depression, alcohol addiction and suicidal thoughts, leading to decision to amputate his leg.
The loss of his leg did not break Derek. He still competes in a lot of crossfit events, owns and operates a nonprofit organization which helps veterans and does not tolerate people who whine about their life “problems”.
