Amistad (1997)

In 1839 a group of slaves overtook their transport ship, killing the crew and ending up in the north, where slavery is outlawed. They’re arrested and suddenly the questions of property, murder and freedom are intertwined in a trial that captures the nation’s attention on the eve of the Civil War. It’s a true film about rights and freedoms and it’s one you should really watch.
