Why did pirates wear eyepatches?
It wasn’t because they hurt their eyes. It was because when they went above deck they could retain their ability to “see in the dark” below deck. This was useful because otherwise when raiding ships they would have to wait for their eyes to adjust.

#2 north and south holland are countries in the netherlands. In dutch they're called "provincies' which translates to......
anyway: the netherlands has more that just those 2: there's Groningen, Friesland, Overijssel, Drente, Gelderland, Utrecht, Noord Brabant, Zeeland, Limburg, and North and South Holland. (did I miss one?)
