Stone Spheres of Costa Rica
Located on the Diquis Delta and on Isla del Caño in Costa Rica, there is a variety of over 300 man-made stone spheres, (known as petrospheres). The spheres were discovered in the 1930’s as the site was being cleared for banana plantations. The spheres were probably made by the ancestors of native peoples who lived in the region at the time of the Spanish conquest, but their exact age and purpose still aren’t known.
