This German shepherd, Gavel, was deemed not good enough to be a police dog, as instead of doing his work he was craving to get a belly rub. But it wasn’t his destiny to be unemployed, as he was soon adopted by governor Paul de Jersey, so Gavel became the official Vice-Regal dog with documented duties of welcoming visitors and attending official ceremonies.
