In English there is not such a thing as correct pronunciation.

Take potato for example.

The thing is, most of these words come from different languages so is up to your knowledge or even heritage of those cultures to choose the right way.

Even with your "Krew-dih-TAY" you will pronounce it in a wrong way while it's a french word.
In french the "u" is pronounced slightly differently than in english. And the "é" does not have any equivalent in english pronounciation.
But anyway, a french will understand it. And more importantly, it will just sound like the so sympatic english accent to us.
