When my best friend told me she was in love with me. I wasn't at all in love with her (even though I loved her as a friend) so I could never treat her the same way. I am a very affectionate person who likes to touch and even hug people often (obviously with their permission), but I no longer felt comfortable doing that with her as I did not want her to get her hopes up. Things just got awkward afterwards, our friendship was damaged somehow. It is very unfortunate because I liked her, just not the way she was hoping me to like her
