Where does the date of Veteran’s Day come from?

On the 28th of July of 1914, Austria declared War on Serbia following the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.

This marks the beginning of World War ONE…4 and a half years later, at 11am, in the French town of Redonthes, the Armistice was signed bringing the War to an end.

The date was November 11th, 1918.

ONE HUNDRED years ago.

So, where does Veteran’s Day come from…you got it…the end of WWI.

Over this week I’d like to share a few stories from “The Great War”.

Some of the stories are very powerful and some are inspirational, as soldiers in the trenches find a way to keep their human-side.

Let’s begin with a few colorized images from a century ago.
