#37 No it isn't! That is an 'epaulette', a clothing feature derived from the military uniform. In the military it has several purposes, the main one to display your rank. You can also use it to hold a lanyard in place, which in turn, can keep your side arm safe from loss.
“It’s taken me 18 years to find out that the weird shoulder buttons on jackets are to hold your bag in place so it doesn’t fall off. Who knew?!”
