I think most of them look better in the before pics. They’re just wearing a ton of makeup in the after (plastic surgery for a bunch of them) pics.

Ego combined with vanity will make some people do crazy things. Look at Renee Zellweger. I loved how she used to look. Now she just looks generic like anyone else and it's sad.
