The 3 good fairies of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, from 1959, were the inspiration for The Powerpuff Girls. Not only do they share the red, blue, and green color scheme, but they also correspond with their names. The names of the fairies are Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather, while The Powerpuff Girls are Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup — “the sweet one,” “the spunky one,” and “the tough one.”
