Another international location, this base is operated with the Royal Australian Navy and is the most powerful transmission station in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s purpose is to offer radio transmissions to ships and subs in the western Pacific Ocean and eastern Indian Ocean. Recently, it has also become a site for the Space Surveillance Telescope, as a part of the United States Space Surveillance Network – a system that detects, tracks, catalogs and identifies artificial objects orbiting Earth.
