This top secret site serves as the backup site for the National Operations centre, a centre of operations for FEMA, and is run ty the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Up until 1974, the facility was completely secret until a plane crashed nearby, and reporters were met with armed guards. Originally a weather station in the 1800s and Civilian facility during WWII, it’s since become a secret, underground base where not many details have emerged. It’s also one of the reported sites that Congress and VP Cheney were evacuated to on 9/11.
