You’d Better Spend Some More Money On These Foods (8 pics)

Fresh and higher quality meat

If you want to indulge yourself, a quality piece of meat is always a great idea. It’s true that you have to pay more for better meat, but it’s also tastier and healthier. And cheap meat is sometimes injected with saltwater so the seller can charge more for less product.

When choosing meat, look for a nice fresh cut that is firm, dry, and has a clear red color. Also opt for a piece with fat and “marbling,” for a guaranteed juicy steak and a more delicious taste.

Chocolate

Cheap chocolate is mostly sugar, fat, and additives, with minimal cocoa butter. This is why the flavor and the texture are not that good and the chocolate doesn’t melt properly in your mouth. When shopping for chocolate, look for a dark, low-sugar one. It costs more, but it is way healthier and will give your body some much needed antioxidants.

Fresh fruits and vegetables

You don’t have to start buying only organic products, but when it comes to fruits and veggies it would be such a pity to not take full advantage of nature’s benefits. Some foods, like conventional strawberries, peaches, and spinach might be full of pesticide residue, so that’s the main reason they are worth the extra money to be bought organic.

And besides the fact that organic fruits and vegetables are healthier and more nutritious, they also taste better.

Wild-caught salmon

When it comes to benefits and nutrients, you can’t go wrong with some wild-caught salmon. Compared to farm-raised salmon, the wild one is higher in minerals, including potassium, iron, and zinc and it also has less fat, which means fewer calories.

You’ll have to pay a little more for sustainable fish, but wild-caught salmon tastes better. It isn’t saturated with antibiotics or hormones and it contains less chemicals, dyes, and fewer allergens.

Extra virgin olive oil

The next time you’re at the supermarket and you feel like splurging on food, you might consider buying some extra virgin olive oil. It’s a bit pricier, but it’s the highest-quality olive oil you can buy and it really makes a difference.

Extra-virgin olive oil is considered healthier since it’s not processed or treated with chemicals and it contains higher levels of vitamins and minerals. The olive taste is more intense in the extra-virgin olive oil, so you’ll really get the flavor you’re paying the extra money for.

Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt may cost double the price of regular yogurt, but it is thicker and creamier. It also contains less sugar and almost twice the amount of protein as regular yogurt, so it keeps you fuller for a longer period of time.

Thanks to the nutrients it contains, eating Greek yogurt may have a positive impact on your well-being since it could help improve bone and gut health, lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of diabetes.

Raw honey

If you look at all the honey on the grocery store shelf, you might notice that the prices can be very different depending on whether it’s raw or regular. Raw honey is more expensive, and it’s not processed or pasteurized, so it contains a wide variety of nutrients, including amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes.

The taste, the quality, and the impressive health benefits, that include lowering your risk of heart disease and cancer, are well worth the few extra bucks.

Single origin coffee

If you can’t imagine a single morning without a cup of coffee, then you should try something more special, like single origin coffee. This type of coffee is considered to taste better because the beans are picked by hand from the same farm or region.

Single origin coffee is more expensive because it’s seasonal, but it’s worth the extra money for those who want to taste coffee in its purest form. You should enjoy it black, with no milk or sugar, so that you can experience its unique flavor.

Forget about Greek yogurt. You haven't tried a real yogurt unless you've tried Bulgarian yogurt

In some countries such as North Korea it is still common practice for farmers to use "night soil" to fertilize. Yeah that's right, sh#t pots and all. We really don't have it all that bad in the US I mean it's only a little round up in our produce, cereals and bread. Try to find something without soy in it in some way. That is BS. As for yogurt, pass on at BS and just drink kefir instead.
