While he was known for SNL, News Radio and other shows, his best known role was as “Troy McClure” on The Simpsons and as Captain Carl on Pee Wee’s Playhouse.
A legitimate comic genius and nice guy, he was shot to death by his drug-abusing wife, who then killed herself.
