They said he would have been put to sleep because the experts determined he wouldn’t survive on his own. Now these generous people can use the situation to promote education about mountain lions, conservation, and even the pet/ zoo industry.

People... I agree. That is still a wild animal, it gets startled at the wrong moment... and someone loses a hand. Good intentions don't always lead to good results.
