Apparently, Porvoo is the second-oldest city in the country, with its origins dating back to a solid 800 years ago. For centuries, the city has been a source of inspiration for many Finish artists. The red shore houses visible in the painting above were used to store merchandise from exotic countries, and today are one of the city's main tourist attractions.
