#5 The "flying device" was a parachute. The video is on YouTube. The man was obviously scared once he was up there looking down, and wanted to back out.
But the group around him on the platform urged him to jump, saying it was too late, the crowds were watching, the newspaper writers were there, and the cameras were rolling.
A good lesson there. If it's your life (or career, or whatever) on the line, tune out all the noise and listen to yourself.

#9 the inventor ( Dean Kamen) didn't die, Jim Heselden ( the man who bought the company) died driving off a cliff.
