#20 Ok all my (long) life, we've been told that the 'Rule of Thumb' was from old laws which allowed a man to beat his wife with a stick, as long as the stick was not wider than his thumb. I've seen this everywhere. I've seen illustration and caricatures of it. If memory serves, I've seen it written in textbooks. And of course, it's been used by misandrists as fuel for the fire, as if we all beat our wives, every morning before breakfast just for good measure and to stay in beating shape.

Now all of a sudden, it's from brewing techniques... yeah ok.
