I still have a GE electric toaster from the 60's and use it daily. I bought another one for parts just in case. The 2 reasons the old toasters make such good toast is that unlike now, they are typically 1200W but since so many snowflakes are afraid of burning their hands , most modern toasters are around 600w. To compound the issue, modern toaster now have very large bread trays to accommodate bagels etc. They really dry out the bread instead of just toasting the exterior.
Had this handed down to me from my parents who had it handed down to them about 20 years ago. If Google is any help, I think it’s a Windmere T-8. Just cleaned it up the best I could today. Still turns bread into toast.
