To this day, no one really knows how these seeds managed to survive for that long. Recently, some scientists in Austria decided to start tackling this mystery by investigating the DNA of these ancient plants.

No offense but it looks like any other weed... maybe any seed will survive that long given the same conditions.

32,000 years. Just incredible -hopefully this will help in finding ways to preserve modern plant life in the face of disaster.
@bev these certainly aren’t the first ancient seeds to be unearthed. But 32k years is remarkable - even in permafrost organic matter doesn’t remain intact like that.
