You have done nothing to get rid of legacy stuff like things others have passed on about/concerning you (there's nothing you can do about that). If you have a job, you cannot delete your job email. You now cannot use map apps. Don't think for a minute that your phone does not track you at all times regardless of your settings.

As a professional who has to register with various organizations so as to have the right to practice, one simply accepts their profile on the internet exists and simply best manages it.

By trying to fool oneself into 'disappearing', you are doing yourself a disservice as the ideal is to shape perception rather than fight it.

"Private" browsing? That only relates to storing your history and cookies from the session on your own computer. Your ISP still can see where you've gone.

And no mention of a VPN? No mention of logging onto your Bing/Google accounts and messing around with the privacy settings (for all the good it really does you)?

You have to be on the net. Make two "identities," at the easiest. One email/identity for all of your real dealings, such as shopping and the like where you need to have your real information out there. Use another identity and a different email account for every site that doesn't require your information for real, such as any freebie site, and for comments, as they don't need a credit card, so a fake name is fine. Do this with your social media accounts as well. When I was wasting time on Facebook to try it out, I had a fake name but emailed my friends to accept a request when it came through, so they would know it was really me despite the fake name.
